Healthcare Operations Consulting
Physician-led consulting for hospitals and health systems working on blood management, perioperative efficiency, and process improvement. We bring in the right experts for your specific problem — and we stay until it is solved.

About
I trained in transfusion medicine and spent four years as Transfusion Safety Officer and Working Group Chair at the University of Iowa Health Care (2022–2026), leading enterprise quality initiatives across surgical, pediatric, and perioperative services.
Before that, I built a blood bank from the ground up — policies, team, workflows, finances. That experience taught me what sustainable operations actually require. I have been consulting independently for over seven years alongside a career in clinical medicine and medical education.
I am currently completing my MBA in Healthcare Management at the University of Iowa. Before medicine, I competed for fifteen years as a national-level fencer — earning a national silver medal. I do not start things I am not prepared to finish.
Services
Every engagement is scoped to your specific problem. We bring in vetted specialists from our clinical and operational network as the project demands.
Massive Transfusion Protocol design and optimisation alongside Maximum Surgical Blood Order Schedule development — tailored to your surgical volume, case mix, and blood bank capacity. From gap assessment through staff alignment and go-live.
Streamlining the operational connection between your blood bank and operating room — Type & Screen workflow design, preoperative testing optimisation, and eliminating the ordering gaps that cause surgical cancellations and delays.
Evidence-based PBM education for surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, and OR teams. Built to change ordering behaviour, not just meet a training requirement. Tailored to your clinical context and patient population.
For institutions where workflows are inefficient, metrics are underperforming, or initiatives have stalled. We identify the root cause, align stakeholders, and build a clear, executable path forward. Practical and focused on results that last.
Blood management standard operating procedures and training manuals grounded in current evidence and regulatory standards — built for your institution, not copied from a template. Ready for staff training and accreditation review.
End-to-end support for clinicians and practices looking to publish — IRB guidance, study design, manuscript writing, journal selection, and reviewer response. We know the process from both sides of the editorial desk.
Our team
HSB Advisory is built around a collaborative model. We bring in vetted specialists from our clinical and operational network as each project demands — so you are never paying for expertise you do not need.
